JORGE RIVEROS
Jorge Riveros is one of the most important abstract geometric living artists from Colombia. Always following the golden mean or golden ratio as a mathematical and aesthetic principle, he has devoted his life to painting as a spiritual practice, as a way to elevate life and dignify reality, and as a meditative and discreet way of living.

BEGINNING
Born in 1934 in Ocaña, Norte de Santander, Colombia, son of Pablo Enrique Riveros and Elisa Salcedo. He lives his childhood in Bucaramanga, where his passion for art and his desire to become a painter was born. At age 12 he travels to the capital, Bogotá, in search of his destination.1951-1956

STUDIES
Between 1951 and 1956 he studied at the National University and obtained the title of Master in Painting and Professor of Drawing. As a student, he meets his great teachers, the Spanish professor Pablo Sansegundo Castañeda and the German Ivo Schaible, who in the words of the painter `` are the responsibles for my definitive passion for painting.``1960-1964

FIRST EXHIBITION
Riveros made his first exhibition in 1960 at the Sociedad Económica de Amigos del País, with figurative works that reflect the influences acquired during the years of learning and curiosity towards various trends, especially the impressionist and the post-impressionist. He works as a professor in several educational institutions in Bogota.1964-1965

SPAIN
In 1964 he won the prize in the Salón de Artistas Santandereanos and obtained a scholarship from the Colombian Institute for studies abroad. That same year he traveled to Europe, and made a Mural Painting Specialization with the painter and professor Manuel López-Villaseñor, and in Art History at the San Fernando School of Fine Arts in Madrid, Spain. He also participated in an exhibition in Zaragoza and at the Barcelona Biennale.1965-1975

GERMANY
In 1965 he traveled to Germany and settled in this country for 10 years. He ventures into geometric abstraction which he researches and develops with a lot of discipline and performs several individual and collective exhibitions. In 1969 he joined the Semikolon group, being the only Latin American artist among its founders.In 1968 he met his wife, Ingeborg Beeck, with whom he married in 1970. In 1972 his first son, Manuel, was born in Essen.

RETURN TO COLOMBIA
In 1975 he decided to return to his native Colombia with his family. He began his work as a professor of fine arts at several universities in Bogotá.1978-1999

Constructivism
In 1978 he began his research and development phase in Constructivism, which he works for 2 decades. He constantly performs individual and collective exhibitions in different cities of the country and abroad.2000-2014

FREE ABSTRACTION
For more than ten years master Jorge Riveros carried out works and investigations in a free abstraction with works such as Canto en el silencio II, Canto de colores I, among others. He continued materializing all the sketches of his constructivist stage.2010-Present

GEOMETRIC ABSTRACTION
As of 2010, he decided to go back to all his sketches and productions carried out during his facet in the Semikolon groups and the Constructivist work cricle in Germany. From 2015 to the present, he continues his research and development on this trend.2015-2017

SOLO EXHIBITIONS
In 2015 The Museum of Modern Art of Bogota (Mambo) paid tribute to master Riveros in a solo exhibition entitled ``Sueños Pospuestos`` in which he presented a giant body of work of many of his works sketched form the 70s to date.In the following years Riveros holded a the solo exhibition ``Emotional Geometries`` at the Leon Tovar Gallery in New York.

CONSTRUCTIVE FORMS
In 2018 master Riveros initiated a new facet in which the coldness of geometric abstraction is poetically balanced with the warm of wood, He started working in the realization of reliefs and columns created in the decade of his active participation in the german arts groups.In 2021, Riveros holded a solo exhibition at the Pablo Atchugarry Foundation in Miami, Usa.
Afetr more than 40 years of having conceived and worked on the reliefs and columns, he holds the solo exhibition ``Constructive Forms`` at the Elvira Moreno Gallery (Bogotá,Col) in which his productive facet is highlighted at the transversal level.
